96 GMC Sonoma 4cly. 5speed manual.

Clutch comes and goes, I mean like full clutch to no clutch, randomly. We refill/topoff the fluid (Which barely needs it at all) and pump the clutch a few times and all is well, for a week or two. Know that there is a very small leak but hardly its noticeable. Sometimes all you have to do is take the lid off and pump the clutch and it will come back to normal.

Now, we can hear a "whining" noise on acceleration in low gears. No noise when in Neutral.

Any suggestions would be helpful. Gonna try to work on it sometime this week, but not even sure where to start.

Sounds like the Master Cylinder or slave cylinder are going out. If it's slave, you may not see fluid since IIRC, it's inside the bellhousing and acts directly on the pressure plate....

M/C would be easy to spot, Fluid runs the fire wall...... Unless the piston seals are shot, then it's internal pressure loss, which wouldn't be seen.

Replace them both and call it good....

if your not going to replace them then pump the clutch about 1000times and it normaly will fix any no pedal issues unless its a major leak
