Unplug Backup Camera

Want to remove tailgate but must deal with backup camera first. 2014 Sierra Double Cab. Wiring plug for the camera (along with 2 others) fits into a receiver attached to the frame. Found a small red tab which I can pull out on the plug. I thought it was a release of some type. No luck in getting it released even with red plug out. Anyone with experience of same problem? TIA

My problem is I can't seem to get the connector to release. I've pulled, twisted, and yanked it, but it just won't release even with the little red tab pulled out. I'm worried about putting too much muscle into it for fear of damaging it. My next attempt will be to remove the panel at the inside top of the tailgate to see if that connector can be released from this location. Unfortunately, I think hooking it back up might be problematic because of the need to snake the cable back up to the camera. Thanks for trying to help.
 
You should see if there are any youtube videos describing the installation. youtube has everything.
 
Finally found a solution. There is a panel on the inside top of the tailgate. Remove the screws holding it in place. The tailgate camera is exposed. Follow the wiring into the camera. Remove the two small screws holding it in place and remove said wire. Pull wire out of the tailgate at the inside bottom of tailgate. Lower the spare and pull wire through. Cover the coupler with waterproof tape to protect the connecting plug. Secure to the frame with a plastic cable tie. Then you can remove the tailgate. Case closed.

Going through that right now. Can’t disconnect the old cable from its original counterpart even with the red tab pulled back
