What are these parts?

Hello I am new to here and owning a suburban as well. I am trying to learn as much as I can about it and what not, also had a few other questions...so Ill start..

1) When I bought it, the guy told me the AC works...but the control panel doesnt work as in swapping it from heat to AC, that I need to turn it to AC from the engine bay...so where in the engine bay do i swap it to AC?

2) I found this thing that has a lever that says on and off....then something that reels out and has a little windup thing to reel it back in..heres an img

I don't have it on hand to answer your question but go and get a Clymer or Haynes manual for your specific year and it will help with everything.

We will not be able to answer question 1 without more information, such as year, model and options on the truck

As for question 2 the item that you have found under your hood with the On-Off switch and wind in-out cord is a trouble lamp. If I remember correctly it takes an 1156 light bulb, but check in your ower's manual to be sure.

The answer is a hood light Maybe just the bulbs missing. It's missing the lens cover you pull it out to use as a light then wind it back up when your done.
