Ive noticed that my temp gauge runs higher than normal when pressing on gas, but when at a stop it returns to normal. Anti-Freeze is going somewhere. I got all fresh snow underneath and no drip marks. No white smoke or any indication its a head gasket problem. Oil is normal, just had it checked and no anti-freeze in it. Hope the two are correlated and cheap to fix! Any help is surely appreciated. Ive checked the hoses from the reservoir to the radiator, but only what I could see from looking under the hood.
Thanks.

Water pump seal could be about to fail and is leaking very little and not holding pressure so it over heats.Feel under the water pump for wet water.
If the air dam is missing or bad timing that will also cause over heating.

Not sure if this will relate to your sierra, but, befor i got mine i had a 95 windstar. It was showing the same issues and it was because the head gasket was going and antifreeze was leaking into the motor (reason for antifreeze slowly disapearing) and blowing compression into the water jacket (causing it to heat up). That being said i noticed it because the van was making a white smoke. Just trying to help out with what i know. Good luck.
