where is the 4wd motor located on 2000 gmc jimmy? How hard is it to change?

4wd won't engage. Mechanic said I need a new motor and quoted $650. Good price, or worth the effort to change myself. I'm mechanically inclined, but not familiar with car maintenance at all. Thanks

wait a new motor thats under the hood cant mis the motor transmission on motor cant miss that either and transfer case between both of after cant miss that al replaceable with right tools

mechanically inclined maybe problem i see is

car maintenance and thats a must buy a repair manual woul dhelp but i think maybe you shouldnt do it just not knowing right off shoul dlearn more about what needs are before doing anything wouldnt be a good thing to just start off learning about
