Like "Stupid Flanders" said, comparison is hard when you compare cars in different classes. Advantages almost always favor the bigger ones. But in this case, I think the smaller one is the better choice. The GMC Acadia is not a bad choice since it's actually built quite nicely. Obviously, it's bigger. It's got 3 rows of seats. Plenty of room for the whole family. It's surprisingly quiet inside when driving the car-based SUV. Fit and finish is very good. The downside is that, the SUV has not been very reliable. It only gets 16 mpg in overall driving. And it's quite pricey. The new Outlander is Mitsubishi's gem after the Evo. It's been getting very good reviews from car magazines. It's very roomy for a small SUV. Third row seat is available only on the V6 version. The cargo area is large with a crafty cargo door and a little tailgate to facilitate loading and unloading of baggages. The 4 cylinder gets you 22 mpg overall while the V6 gets you 19 mpg overall, better than the GMC Acadia.
