its back! the rust spots all over the paint on my 2011 truck are back!the fix lasted only until the salt spreaders were on the road again. it took 2 months for GM to fix the problem last time. I am going to notify General Motors today and we will see what happens.

Hello cjonzee,

I apologize that you are experiencing rust again in your truck. Please keep us updated when you reach out to your agent that you were working with again. If you have any trouble getting in contact with your agent, please feel free to private message me with your VIN and case number and I would be more than happy to notify your agent. I will be sure to be on the lookout for your future posts.

Give me a different truck or paint the one I have now a different color. Those are the two options.

I LOVE those two options Cjonzee. Good luck in getting GM to pay for that.

It's a SHAME all the GM pick-ups (1995 thru what ever year you pick) I see with the rust on the corner panels such as yours.. Hell, and yours is a 2011.

That just goes to show everyone that GM is still using the same old metal from 1995..and they could careless about you or I.. Just like now, with capital hill investigation going on with GM.

I noticed a small rust spot on my Yukon Denali, so I went to my GM dealer to get some touch up paint. The white diamond stuff is expensive ! Well, more so than the red paint for my Duramax. Anyhow, when I brought it inside my garage and began to clean the area, I noticed a blister about the size of a quarter that must have recently popped up ! This is inexcusable for a new vehicle. I then went back to my GM dealer and he said good luck with that, GM won't do anything unless it actually a through hole in the metal. Is this possible in this day and age ? I would think GM would like to fix it now when it is minimal expense versus when it is bad. Plus, it also upsets a life long GM owner. Please GM, don't make me switch brands !

This is why I avoided the painted bumper in my new '16 Sierra

My 2003 Tahoe Z71, full metal painted front and rear bumpers and my replacement, a leased 2013 Silverado 1500 Z71 with painted, metal center front bumper both had started to rust, especially from stone chips. The fiberglass/plastic corner pieces on the Silverado, PERFECT, not a chip in them.

So while my 2013 lease is almost up (March 2016), I've already taken delivery of a 2016 GMC Sierra, which I went for the SLT line to get the chrome front and rear bumper, over the painted bumpers of the Denali line, as I've learned by now, after two different GM trucks.

I get small rust spots all over my 2012 also. Mine are from the "rail dust" I think, very annoying. If I clay bar the truck and keep it waxed it keeps them away for the year, until, like you said, winter arrives and the salt / sand are on the road and I'm not really able to wash it. I haven't noticed any major rust on mine, just little dots about the size of a ball point pen tip.

Sadly, I do have to agree with the other commenters here, GM really doesn't care about their customers.

FWIW... not unique to GM paint and the color white. In addition to owning 2 GMC trucks (1 silver & 1 black) I own a 2008 Ford E-250 work van, in white. I also live where roads get salted and sanded for 6 months, my white Ford does the same thing every winter. A quick wax job in the spring removes all the rust "dots", it's good again until the following winter.

White paint

Well , our shops White F-150, the paint just pealed off. My 2014 GMC has some rust specks , nothing a good coat of wax won't fix. At least there is something there to wax.

white paint.

I have a 2003 GMC Sierra and have holes in my box and in the same area under the paint is blistering that is a result of bad metal.
