Will a tranny out of a 1995 Jimmy work in a 1997 Jimmy

We were told before we bought the 95 for parts the tranny would work in our 97 now we are told it will plug up externally but will not work internally. Anybody know before we pull them?

The 1995 4L60E has some one-year parts variations in the transmission, and is different from 94's and from 96-newer making it a one-year-only on the automatic transmission.

The 95 is the first year of the manual shift position sensor on the side of the trans, and later years had a PWM pump. My memory as my only source of info at the moment I would have to say that the PWM style started in 97 or maybe in 96 which would explain why the 95 was a "95 only" year.

Pulse-width-modulated (PWM) it's a stepped way of engaging a solenoid instead of hard on/off.
