trailer(with a horse in it)? I'm looking into buying a '97 GMC sierra with 117K miles on it. It is a 4X4 automatic. I need something that can pull a two horse or one horse trailer and I was wondering if the truck, since it is older, will be able to pull it.

It should but i would upgrade the transmission. 4L60E replace the servo with a corvette servo ($25.00-$45.00) price varies to getting it from dealer or transmission shop. Replace the Boost valve with a 0.500" size boost valve ($45.00) and take's about 5 min to replace when the transmission pan is dropped, same time you replace the transmission filter. Servo can be replaced without dropping the transmission pan, this will be the best improvement to ensure you don't get any slipping from 1-2 shift.

Good luck friend and keep me posted, i can give you a few more tips to getting more HP from your engine by removing a few things. Cost $0.00. just your time.
