I would like to say yes but your going to have emission problems, we can not swap out a newer engine for an older engine set up. If your going to do an engine swap, your going to have to swap it out with similar years so you can swap in a 1999 5.7 engine set up in your jimmy. If you just got a head gasket gone bad, I'd replace the crank bearings, have the heads decked to bring the compression ratio up and change the rocker ratio unless you like to replace the cam since you have the upper engine apart. This would cost much less and give you more torque in the engine and all you have to do is replace a few things in the transmission like the servo's and Boost valve for around $100.00 in parts. I swapped the Servo and Boost valve for the corvette in my jimmy after the first transmission service and it's still running strong after 365,000 miles.
