ONe issue I still have is when i connected my ignition relay connected it wants to keep cranking like I have the key turned. So What I determine is there is a short in the switch or the a wire coming out of the switch to the relay. I took the lower steering column plastic off and see where a remote starter was wired in. There were wires to something that were all cut still spliced in, but covered by tape. Which wire is the hot wire when the ignition is engaged, because instead of replacing the whole switch i might just put a push start on it. Any help would be great!!!

Well we found it it was the actual relay that was stuck on which was making the starter fire when it was connected. Replaced it and wala it started. So i wend to my truck this morning, turn the key, no start....so I guess the relay went bad already. I know we checked to see if the relay was getting power with out turning the key and it was not so its not like there was a current giving it constant power...wth...so gonna try another relay and see what happens....

Thinking my neutral park switch could be causeing an issue too with this. Will report back when I figure it out.

Keep up the great work, my 96 jimmy has over 365,000 miles on it now, that's over 550,000 KM up here in Canada and still running the original engine, trany, and rear end.

Other then that it's just maintenance and replace worn parts before breaking down somewhere.

Keep up the great work.:D

Love to hear that.. I just picked up a 96 2door 4X4 jimy with 96,000 for $800, it was just going to be a quick flip for some cash but I like it enough and winter is comming. Mine has a battery drain, Bad ujoint and loud rearend.. All scared original owner as he took to standard shops for repair and quotes where half the value of tuck so he sold cheap. Ujoint reapire with parts was $60 (i pulled and took in and put back in), battery drain wa the stock head unit (replaced with aftemarket stereo) bit suprised the stock head unit could cuase a drain yet work just fine (easy to find, pull fuses till drain was found).. first one I have ever come across. Now Im just left with the rearend.. its got a whine, pretty sure it was run low on grease (slight leak in front seal) its full and not lossing it fast enough to worry about chceking it for months (maybe a year).. but Im worried it damaged enough. Upside.. local yards have tons of rearedns for $100.. so otehr then some work. its a cheap fix.

So now I all i have is a couple of tiny rust spots in front of rear wheels .. yes it wasnt a perfect Jimmy, no dents.. insdie was quite dirty but cleaned up easy.. newer tires.. so I got about $1000 in it pluse a $300 head unit which will move to another car if I unload this one. KBB even in the worst condition lists it for $3100, and in good condition at $3700.. I would say its between the two.. So far its averageing about 17 in town over 300 miles, but Im a pretty mello driver..

overall im pretty happy, Im capmaring it to my 93 explore i had a few years ago.. better millage, same power it seems.. but the Explorer seems to ride a littel less truck like.. but that was 2+ years ago maybe I remeber it wrong.. but as a GM guy I like this truck so far.
