Have a 2000 Jimmy Diamond Edition that won't start. It cranks like it wants to but doesn"t. Sprayed starter fuild but still doesn"t stay running. Someone says it could be the fuel pump. How easy is it to replace the fuel pump?

It's not the easiest things to change, you have to drop the gas tank to replace the Fuel pump. You can test the fuel pressure at the shredder valve, you need 62-65 PSI of fuel to get the injectors to work to start the engine.
You might get lucky and that your fuel filter is bad and clogged up of your ground wire to your fuel pump has corroded off the frame of the Jimmy which will also cause your fuel pump to be weak.
Start with checking the fuel pressure and replacing the fuel filter and the same time inspect the ground wire to your fuel pump.

You need a fuel pressure manual pressure gauge (Auto Zone loner tool) and the shredder valve is located on the fuel line on the driver's side by the distributor going in to the SCFI system.

I think i"m going to replace the fuel pump. Put a new fuel filter on but nothing happen. Fuel pump sounded weak. So wish me luck.
Before you go through all that trouble, inspect the ground wire to your fuel pump sending unit. A bad ground can cause your fuel pressure to be weak, just making sure you don't go off replacing expensive parts that are still good and if you do have to replace the fuel pump. Replace the wire harness from the sending unit to the frame, they are about $15,00 and is a good investment from the wires going bad when moved around and will cause you future issues if not replaced.
There is also a post i sent out on to how to replace just the fuel pump from the sending unit with a better pump then the stock one that comes with the sending unit as a whole assembly.

Sending unit pump is bad and will need to be replaced, as for the ground wire. I can't remember at this time, but you can follow the wire harness from the top of the gas tank to the frame.

Finally everything done and running. Thanks for all your help and inputs. Was sort of a breeze to do also. Now just need to see if the fuel gauge works or not. Other than that my son is happy and i'm very happy i can drive my own truck again.
