Getting close to the 60K mileage warranty and my truck still has the Torque Converter shudder. I've had it to 3 different dealerships under warranty and all they will do is a "tripple flush" on the transmission fluid which I'm not exactly sure what a tripple flush is... It supposedly has the new and improved fluid in it but the shudder is still there. Has anyone gotten their Torque Converter changed under warranty on this? I have had several cases open with GMC but they all say the same thing... bring it to a dealership... obviously the dealerships aren't willing to do swap out the converter...

Same thing happened to my 2016 canyon. Dealership replaced the torque converter under warranty right at end of the drive train warranty period (60k). Said it would have been $4000. They never mentioned a transmission flush. Now at 70k miles and problem has started again. In recent follow up with dealership, they couldn't get me scheduled right away because they already have TWO other torque converter jobs on the schedule. My first repair took two weeks. Your dealership may be giving you the runaround waiting for the warranty to run out. I hoping my dealership does the right thing like with the first failure. Just 10k more miles on mine and TC fails again! After this experience I am moving to Ford or Dodge or Toyota.

There is a technical service bulletin for changing out the fluid. Had mine done they flush and replace with a different fluid.
Mine feels better but apparently there is a class action in the makes for the tranny.

I own a 2017 Canyon with a 2.8L diesel. I had a problem with the gears shifting hard and brought it in for servicing at 47,000 mi (just before the expiration of the powertrain warranty). The dealer replaced "TEHCM" and "set the fluid level" whatever that means. It was okay for several months, but the problem returned. I brought the truck in again with the same complaint, this time at 62,000 mi and beyond the warranty period. Now GMC says it needs a new transmission and GMC will not cover the replacement under warranty. For obvious reasons, this doesn't sit well with me. I wonder what my legal options are.

My 2018 has a shudder, until recently I thought it was just road noise until I ran across the topic on the forums. I had the dealership perform the flush service bulletin and I don't see a difference at all. They said to drive it 1000 miles to give the converter a chance to have the fluid evenly distribute like it would take 1000 miles. Shudder is still there after 400 miles even in tow mode. I will be taking it back and getting them to replace the transmission and TC. Question is, has GM redesigned the transmission by now or the TC or are they still putting the same flawed units in new vehicles?

After 1500 miles of driving after the GMC dealer did the triple flush and service with the blue fluid, I still had the shudder just as bad as before. Took it back and they now are installing a torgue converter under warranty. I think I have right around 42,000 miles on it. Service writer could not tell me if they are putting a redesigned TC in or the same as original that the blue fluid will allow to see a full service life with.

Getting my Canyon back today after having a new TC installed. Big question will be whether or not the transmission suffered damage in the last 40 thousand miles of driving with the shudder. I bought it used last year with 30 + thousand miles but have no idea when the shudder started. Has anyone had to have the transmission replaced with the source of the damage or premature failure attributed to the shudder problem?
Thanks

I just bought a 2018 canyon in 2022 and I have the same stuff that everyone here is having they changed the fluid in the shudder went away but mine downshifts very slow between 1amd 2 and when I come to a rolling stopqnd get back on the gas it bands into gear hard they said it now needs a software up date now it’s Al jerky in every gear pissed thinking of selling it back when I drive it threw the show room window

I bought my 2018 GMC Canyon with 28000 miles on it in the fall of 2022. At 30000 miles I felt this weird shuddering while driving on the highway up slight inclines. I thought it was small bumps in the pavement, except it was happening on all inclines. From what I read other owners have said, I’m thinking of trading it in for a Jeep Gladiator.
