Managed to lose my keys in a store and had to call a locksmith. Guy that came to rekey the Yukon was on the larger side and had to move my seat back some and kept his knee in the seat, leaning in to to work inside the steering column. I didn't realize what this had done until I went to adjust my seat back up (I'm short and need to adjust it up higher to be able to see!!!) and the seat moves all ways except for the vertical forward up. So the butt end of the seat moves vertically, but the leg part will not. I can hear the seat trying to move, but nothing happens.
Took truck to local shop - was told that I would have to have a new seat.
Took truck to dealer, confirmed.

1) Is this REALLY necessary or can I figure out what part is broken and replace?
2) Could it be a fuse issue?
3) Is there a way to manually adjust the seat?

I can't believe they need to replace the seat for a motor issue. And it's probably not the motor itself since you can hear it try to move, it's a jammed drive mechanism. I'd talk to other dealers first, get a second (3rd, 4th) opinion. Maybe an auto upholstery shop who also rebuilds seats (such as with classic cars, etc) can help. Failing that, I'd be looking for a used seat from a junk yard and swapping over your upholstery.

frugalfrank, did you ever get a solution for this? Picked up a 2012 XL Denali a week ago. Found this to be the case for me. Driver seat will not adjust up on the leg portion, but back section goes just fine. Thanks in advance.
