I have installed an aftermarket audio head unit, amp, speakers and subwoofer in my 2012 Sierra 1500. Nothing big, just a 900 watt amp. Everything is properly wired. The problem is with the electronic power mgmt system which allows the alternator to disengage when the battery doesn't require charging. Unfortunately as it does this my amp cuts out because it's drawing the voltage from the battery before the alternator kicks in and charges the battery back up. This problem is progressively getting worse and my amp now cuts out within five minutes of driving. I have taken this to the local dealership and they tested the alternator and battery and said everything was working fine. I have spoken with some car audio shops in my area and they want to sell me a second battery or bigger alternator, but if the computer is controlling the alternator I don't see where either of these would help. Any suggestions?
