I have a 99 Jimmy and I've been having some rather serious issues with the brakes. I got the Jimmy off my brother because he didn't drive it and it was cheap. He told me the brakes were gone and boy was he right. I'm no mechanic but I've done quite a few brake jobs. The brake pedal had zero pressure and the brake warning light was on on the dash. I knew the problem was in the rear end. I took off the passenger side rear wheel and inspected the brakes. They appeared fine and the pads looked like they were in good shape. So I take off the driver side back wheel and I was shocked. Both pads were missing and it was just the caliper and a thrashed rotor. Knowing this thing needed some serious work I took it to my mechanic. He replaced both rear rotors, both rear calipers, both rear sliding pin brackets, and put new pads on both (of course). He bled the whole system and the brakes worked fine afterwards. But about a month later I noticed a squealing sound coming from my rear end when I apply my brakes. I thought the new setup needed to be broke in so I ignored it for a while. But the squealing only got worse. After driving home from work I got out and felt the passenger side back wheel. (The one that wasn't thrashed before the brake job) and it was warm. Which is to be expected. But I went over to the wheel that blew the brakes apart and touched that rim. It was very hot to the touch. Much hotter than the passenger side. I looked through the rim and the rotor appears to have grooves in it. It's only been 2 months since the job so the pads have not worn out. Since my driver side back wheel is the one burning up again, I'm assuming the problem is on the passenger side. Has anyone had any issues similar to this? What should I look for? Any help is appreciated.
