The heater blower motor sometimes starts up by itself but if it's not blowing and I give it a whack with my fist under the glove compartment it seems to start up just fine. I don't know if it's the motor or a switch or a resistor if someone could point me in the direction of what I need to replace or repair it would make this a lot easier for me I'm certainly not a mechanic but I'm not useless either.

Inspect the two wire connector at the motor, the connector can get loose and then it gets hot which makes it become even looser and if left that way for long, the plastic connector can melt from heat. If the connector is in good shape, run the fan in the high position and use a small hammer to tap NOT HARD on the bottom of the blower motor. If it then starts running, the motor will need to be replaced due to worn brushes. If the resistor was bad, the blower would only run in the high position. Most likely issues are the connector and the number one issue is a bad blower motor.
