1990 Burb. 350 TBI. 4X4 1500. My base idle runs about 1100 rpm. On occasion, it drops down to about 700-800 where it belongs. Recently I was splashing through mud puddles, long and deep, after numerous passes I discovered my air filter was dripping with water. After a little bit of drying it out, the idle was normal for several hours. Most of the time it is in the 1100 range. I have checked the throttle body gaskets for leaks. It acts like a vacuum leak but I am not able to find one in any situation. I'm leaning towards the air idle control motor, or what ever GM has named it. Am I right or am I wrong?

Start with the simple and try cleaning your throttle body with Throttle body cleaner, make sure you pay attention to your IAC valve to ensure you have cleaned out any carbon build up.

There is also Deep Creep made by Seafoam and that does a great job also on cleaning up the carbon from your throttle body and upper intake.

Start with the few things mentioned and keep us posted. ;)

Thanks, Since I blew through the water hole and ran air through the soppin' wet filter the idle issue hasn't been an issue. Cheapest throtle body cleaner I have ever used. I will assume the water particles did the cleaning job and call it good.
