Hopefully the attached pictures are clear and easily viewable. Will be adding more as I go along, frame was caked in mud, up to an inch in some spots. Wish I took a picture before I started the frame work, but oh well!
Would like to swap to a solid front end eventually, and once the 5.0L has had it I will be replacing it with a 5.7. I don't mind the IFS, but I hear it is a pain in the ass to install a lift. Can anyone point me in the right direction for a 4-6" suspension lift for my independent front?
Truck won't be on the road for quite some time, so I am just trying to gather up any info I can to build this into a life-long vehicle. Family owned since new in 94. Been driving it since I was 11, I will NEVER get rid of this truck.
Speedometer stopped working at 235000km, truck has around ~275000 now. At least 150,000+ are gravel road kms. Transmission synchros went in January, first major problem with the truck.
Other problems in its 18 year life:
One fuel pump, 3 yrs ago.
2 Rear ends
Currently have the transmission ready to be pulled, just need to remove engine-to-tranny bolts and it will be out. Only thing stopping me is the cost to rebuild the transmission, and the cost of a new one and the availability, especially while I'm going to college.
If anyone in B.C. has a line on a good condition NV3500 5-speed manual transmission, let me know thanks
In the mean time, body/frame work continues, will be starting on the interior soon aswell.
Let me know what ya think, thanks!
