Hopefully the attached pictures are clear and easily viewable. Will be adding more as I go along, frame was caked in mud, up to an inch in some spots. Wish I took a picture before I started the frame work, but oh well!

Would like to swap to a solid front end eventually, and once the 5.0L has had it I will be replacing it with a 5.7. I don't mind the IFS, but I hear it is a pain in the ass to install a lift. Can anyone point me in the right direction for a 4-6" suspension lift for my independent front?

Truck won't be on the road for quite some time, so I am just trying to gather up any info I can to build this into a life-long vehicle. Family owned since new in 94. Been driving it since I was 11, I will NEVER get rid of this truck.

Speedometer stopped working at 235000km, truck has around ~275000 now. At least 150,000+ are gravel road kms. Transmission synchros went in January, first major problem with the truck.

Other problems in its 18 year life:
One fuel pump, 3 yrs ago.
2 Rear ends

Currently have the transmission ready to be pulled, just need to remove engine-to-tranny bolts and it will be out. Only thing stopping me is the cost to rebuild the transmission, and the cost of a new one and the availability, especially while I'm going to college.
If anyone in B.C. has a line on a good condition NV3500 5-speed manual transmission, let me know thanks :) In the mean time, body/frame work continues, will be starting on the interior soon aswell.

Let me know what ya think, thanks!
Cole.

The IFS sucks if it works at least it works. You're in B.C. so I'm not quite sure on the availability of going to 4wheel parts but for sure check their site out. I have the 5.7L and I can't even imagine a better motor

Going to have to do some reading on a solid front axle swap that is for certain. Around $6000 to professionally install a 4-6" lift with the IFS, which is ridiculous! Not going to pay that, but if that'is the price tag I am weary of tackling it myself, it must be a big job.
I have loved the 5.0L since day one, but I still can't wait for it to keel over so I can upgrade to the 5.7. Will definitely check out the site you posted, thanks

Update on the interior!
Flooring torn out
Cleaning up the little rust that is there (thank god)
Repaint floor
Painting door panels black,
Plastic 4WD Shifter casing painted black aswell.
Metal Trim to hold in shift boot painted white.

Not sure if I am going to completely tear the interior plastics out yet or not.
Should be simple enough to do in the future.

Just waiting on a stripped-screw removal bit. A few extremely rounded/stripped right out, not sure who the hell worked on the interior last but they did a quite a number on some screws. about 70% of all the interior screws are stripped.. annoying.

Oh yeah, also up to around $10 in change that has fallen out of wherever inside the truck, lol. Including $5 inside the tapedeck hahah.
