Good day all,

As the topic states I have issues with a drain on my system that I'm not sure what it could be. I'll start at the beginning of when it all started happening.

About a week ago I was out with my old man hauling wood with his truck and mine (his is a GMC Sierra) and the universal snapped in his. So me having mine with me hooked up my tow strap and towed him back home, while on the side of the road with my 4-way flashers on. Skip forward to the next morning and my battery is completely dead, showing only 9 volts.

So I thought nothing of it and recharged my battery and started my Jimmy and the drivers side tail light is out, so I check the bulbs none of them are burnt out and I decided just for fun to click my 4-ways on again and back off. Now all my tail lights work. so I thought it was just a dirty contact somewhere and thought nothing of it. Drove it for the day and alternator charges fine 13.8-14 volts truck runs fine all day, The next morning its back to 9 volts.

I am at a loss for what could be the problem, nothing was changed or added to the system for a drain, vanity light fuse is pulled, glove box light is out, nothing is on or running (that I know of) so I would like to know what could be the problem. I was thinking it would be my multifunctional switch in my steering column, any thoughts?

Could just be a bad battery that is no longer holding a charge from a bad cell. The other issue that is been known to happen is the rear wiped has gone bad from corrosion and does not know where the neutral point is and will keep trying to power it self its way back back to its neutral point draining the battery.

Keep us posted

Sorry for the late reply, busy with work and whatnot. I've not heard of the rear wiper motor being bad, and it can't be that since it has been unhooked (relay taken out) since I bought the Jimmy a few months ago, unless of course it's still reading to draw power.

But an update on this issue, I've replaced the multifunction switch and the battery still goes dead, I will try a new battery just to be sure, but I've had the battery tested and alternator tested and all good on that. I've heard the drivers door switch for power windows/locks/mirrors may be bad. The locks do click 3 or 4 times when I reconnect the battery so I may try that to see if it fixes my drain.

Besides that, what else could I try checking that could cause it to happen? As of right now I have to unhook the battery everyday to leave it overnight. Any advise would help I'll try pretty much try anything since I've pulled every fuse, relay, and checked every wire inside and out. Thanks
